I have had pulled pork and ribs success on my WSM. I am smoking my first brisket this weekend. Thinking of using Suzie Q's Santa Maria Rub and using oak wood. Has anyone tried this? Would appreciate any input. Thanks.
 
I can't speak about the rub you're going to use, but I use oak and cherry when I cook brisket.
Whenever I do a brisket, I remind myself of the following: "Brisket is a journey; you'll know when you get there".
