Brisket Temp

I put my brisket on this morning after a 17hr pork butt smoke. After 20hrs with the same load of fuel I added a lit chimeny of Kinsford so I can finish out the brisket. My temp spiked to 286 for about 20 minutes. Did this temp spike effect the meat? I am now down to 250 after the 20 min. Thanks
 
THat quick a spike won't have any effect on the meat. The only thing it may effect is the rub (if there is a lot of sugar in it). But even that is not likely. I've had temps shoot to the 300 mark and didn't have a problem. I really wouldn't sweat it. You'll be fine!
