Brisket help

Not sure if this is the right place for this. I have a 5.9lb brisket, and am planning on smoking it tomorrow. this is my first brisket what is the best way to smoke it i would like it to come off between 5 and 6. also what is the best wood for beef?

Is it a flat or a whole packer? I would go with the high heat method since you want to eat it at a normal time.

For brisket I usually use mesquite or hickory.
