Brisket basting

Do most of you baste your brisket? I have only smoked 3 so far, but I haven't basted yet and all of them have been wonderful. Would they have been better if I had basted?

Also, it seems from what I have read on this board that the most common basting liquid used is apple juice. It this correct?
 
Yes, basting is a good idea-- unless you want to cook a pork butt on the top grate and let it do the basting for you. Apple juice is popular, as are other concoctions that may include other juices, oil, rub, etc.
