Brisket and rub

Does it really matter if one rubs it down the night before, or right before putting it on? Curious..as I have always rubbed them the night before, and they always turn out great, but I am feeling a little lazy tonight.

I used to do it the night before but for the last 3 years I rub down everything right before it goes on the WSM. I just put WORCESTERSHIRE suace on the meat, apply rub and on it goes. Got this method from the Texas BBQ rub site.

I guess the reason I asked, I have family coming in from the brisket belt (Tx) tomorrow, and want it to be top knotch.

Well Mr Bill Cannon of Texas BBQ rubs is a Texan so.... Anyway I have done many briskets both ways over the years and there's no difference except less time/hassel doing it Bill's way. I do it with all and any rubs. Link for you

I have never found a big difference either way. I have also had those lazy feelings lately and I think I am going to rub after I get the WSM started.
