I tried some Chef Select last weekend 3 chimneys of charcoal very low ash I think it is made by Royal oak can only get it on line but free shipping to store Do it right 40 lb bag 15 and change
briquettes most similar to lump?

Its not that its bad there is alot of ash left which to me means something other than hard wood charcoal

At hunt camp we go through several hundred pounds of briquettes a year bought by multiple people.
We've decided after going through every cheap charcoal the men bring down to require either kingsford or royal oak!
Kingsford is preferred for steak nite , it lights easily & burns hot.
Royal Oak for smoking as it produces less ash.
