Brining Brisket

I was watching Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives the other night, it was a barbecue episode. A guy on there was brining his brisket prior to smoking. Has anybody ever tried brining the brisket before smoking that wasn't making pastrami or corned beef? If so, how did it come out? The last couple of times I've done brisket I injected but it wasn't fully submerged. Would appreciate any thoughts.

Sweetwater Spice Co. has a bunch of meat baths and they do make a brisket brine. I tried it last year sometime and the brisket came out good. I brined it overnight and then slept late the next morning so I couldn't do the cook. I wrapped it up and froze it for a couple of days then thawed it out and cooked it the next weekend!! It was good. There are a bunch of large chunks of spices in the brine that I strained out and used for a wet rub. The brine has an apple/chipotle flavor and it was nice. Thanks for reminding me I am gonna get some on order along with their rib and butt bath!!

I'm guessing like any brine the purpose would be to keep the Brisket moist during cooking. Never tried beef but it works wonders for chicken. I'm generally too lazy to brine though LOL
