Brine for venison?

I have a relative that wants to give me some venison to smoke. Can anyone recommend a brine recipe? I saw mention that there was one in the Weber cookbook, but I don't have that.

I would appreciate any help, thanks.

I have used the cure recipe found on the Morton's Tender Quik bag. I havew used this for venison and moose. It is a cure. Makes a nice smoked product just remember to get the internal meat temp to 165F.

Richard,

Do a quick web search for Red Wine Venison Marinade. I don't remember which one I used exactly, but I have done a few venison racks with this and it is really good. The basics of it are red wine, vinegar, olive oil, crushed garlic, fresh herbs and fresh cracked pepper. IMO,it should stay in marinade for at least 24 hours to really make an impact.

Opps, I just saw this was a slightly old post, but maybe still good info for someone.
