Has anyone, "Breaded" chicken (thighs or Legs), then smoked them ? Just curious. yesterday while checking out different web sites, somewhere, I thought I saw a picture of something that looked like Breaded chicken parts. There was nothing written about the picture explaining it etc.

I have on both thighs and breast strips.

I used regular bread crumbs and never did it again.

I would like to try a mixture of panko and seasonings and cook it at 400+ in the kettle to see if the texture comes out more distinct.

Did you usse the egg/flour/breadcrumbs procedure that normally done for oven cooking ?
Also you mentioned "Texture", did the bread cumbs not brown, or were they soggy ? Please explain. Also what was the Temp you cooked them at ?
John

Yes- egg, flour, and bread crumbs. Texture wasn't "bonded" to the chicken....and I'm assuming because the fire wasn't hot enough.

I don't know exactly what the temp was, but I would guess that it was around 300.

I'm gonna try it again some day, but, only in the kettle ..... and at a lot hotter temps (400+).

Thanks Craig. I may still try it, now that I modified my Brinkmann, added holes for charcoal pan/damper. After a few more cooks, just learning the modified cooker. I don't know how hot I can get the temp, but maybe if I'm in the right mood, we will try it. This week, no water pan chicken leg qtrs. I've had good luck with that. Thanks Again.
