bottom perpendicular grate

My local Home Depot has a 22.5 inch weber cooking grate. Will this work as the second perpendicular grate on the bottom? Also, I have decided to inject a chicken and was wondering what other smokers experiences have been regarding injecting the night before, few hours before or right before.

I think the cooking grate would be to big.. I used a replacement charcoal grate for the 22.5" kettle and that slides right inside the ring snugly. Tie-wire it all together and it makes a great charcoal shaker.

What Tim said about the grates;
I think we get better results by injecting the chicken right before it goes on. It seems the injection leaks out if it sits too long.

I found the charcoal grate. I think I'll wait and see if I really need it. I'm going to inject right before. Thanks for the help.
