Black Handles?

What if one were to buy a copper kettle, register it... then order the set of handles. And then return the grill.

Would that be terrible? Not that I would do such a thing... but just sayin'.

Depends on how bad you want the black handles, I guess.

If you are thinking of the hypothetical just call Weber and say you have a Copper OTS and register it, but do not purchase it. They do not ask for supporting documentation or verify. I'm not an advocate for that but you are speaking in "hypothetical" terms.

I do not know what the issue is with the black handles, I ordered them over the weekend and I was honest with Weber cs, I told them it was for my WSM and that I did not own a Copper OTS. If they are selling them they are making money. This is a money making opportunity for Weber, simple laws of supply vs demand, if the market exists satisfy the need and make some $$$.

My handles came in today. I thought I ordered 2 pair, it appears that a pair really only means one. I will be following up with Weber for my second pair. I can't wait to get them on WSM. Here is the picture.

I just called up and told Weber I wanted the black handles to go on my 26.75. I told them the grey handles get very dirty.

The sales rep said no problem. I ordered some dampers as well, and they ended up giving me free shipping.

Guess it depends on who you talk to?

OMG I was just on the phone with Weber for almost a half hour trying to get a set of the black handles...she had no idea what I was talking about! She kept saying "they are grey! they are grey handles!". Richard do you know the part number on them (or maybe order number?)? She was convinced that they never made black handles...I assured her people have ordered them...I even said they were on the copper kettle and I was looking at a picture of one online...haha, that was frustrating!

I ordered two more pair today for my 22.5 wsm. Ordering was a breeze. The rep was in a good mood and gave them to me under warranty. She even said she was going to get a set of black handles for her grills. Lol

Awesome thanks! The sales rep I spoke didn't seem all quite there, so maybe I just need a different person to deal with! Thanks!

As a general rule, Weber does not like to sell parts for the purpose of mods. They reserve parts for warranty and worn-out/replacement purposes so that people who own the actual product in question can get the right parts when they need them.

Having said that...good luck.

In that case, I have 2 old 3-wheelers (just bought one today for $15). I think I'll call Weber and get my replacement wooden handles.
