Big Earl's BBQ - Scottsdale, AZ

Went to Big Earl's in Old Town Scottsdale on Friday evening. I seldom get out to a BBQ joint because my kids are picky eaters, so needless to say, I was excited to try a new place. I was amazed how poor the end product was. The brisket was one big hunk of fat with very little bark. It was basically inedible. The PP was ok, but didn't have a ton of flavor and was a little dry. The pork ribs were undercooked IMHO and had a hammy flavor. The rub tasted very salty. The beef ribs were decent, but not spectacular.

I'll stick to my backyard WSM and save $100 next time.

Sorry you had that experience....I'd heard Big Earl's was ok, but from someone who thinks Famous Dave's is fine bbq. I haven't been to any bbq restaurants in the area, I can't bring myself to pay a lofty price for something I can probably make better at home. However....the Mexican food in the area can't be replicated, so when I go out I usually plead with the family to eat Mexican. If you want some excellent non-chain Italian food, check out Rigatony's in Tempe.
