So, I got to thinking, my smoker could really use a table. And we all need a place to light our charcoal.
So, a neighbor was getting rid of an old Charbroil (actually made in the USA, with a welded steel frame-it must of been really old). I grabbed another complete hunk of crap gasser somebody was giving away with a 22" that was stainless and had a side burner. The side burner fit the edge of the Charbroil cart perfectly. I had to notch the edge of the other side's table to fit it on but I bolted that up on the other side.
I used two old Genesis grates I had laying around for the bottom. I re-did the main ignitor from the Charbroil into the side burner valve and manifold. On the left side of the back I reused the front manifold from crappy grill to act as a lid holder, after screwing in a piece of threaded rod I had laying around.
The right hand side under the table I bolted on a paper towel holder (either 50 cents or a dollar at a church thrift store). Just to the left of that I had a U shaped piece that I cut off of an old shop cabinet that I was getting rid of. That's to put a roll of aluminum foil.
You can't have a nice day of cueing without a few frosty ones, so I took the chain from the long match holder of the Genesis (which I've never used for its intended purpose), looped it through a hole in the cart, and attached a bottle opener to it.
The tube under the smoker is a u shaped aluminum cover I had that does a great job of acting as a charcoal chute for when I need to refuel on a long cook.
I often do shoulders started in the evening, and get tired of checking progress with a flashlight, so of course I needed a light. That was laying around from an old radial arm saw, so it had a screw in the bottom of the flexible neck that I was easily able to bolt onto the back of the cart.
And if you're going to electrify the cart, you might as well get some tunes. So I took a pair of computer speakers (also church fair, either two or three bucks), bolted them to the bottom of the cart with a few of the same pieces of the u shaped channel for the foil holder, and ran the wires together with the lamp wire to a small power block that I can plug in or unplug as needed.
I have thought about putting in a mini beer fridge on the lower right or maybe a dedicated icebox but so far, I have most of what I could think of done.

The really sad thing is, I did this mainly to light the charcoal and have workspace. I now added a performer (see post in the charcoal section for that story) which takes care of those needs. So might strip off a bunch of the parts to make a more compact smoker cart that will allow the performer and the smoker to share the same side of the deck. But I had to share the current iteration. I was proud of it and building it for less than $5.
