And I don;t think you can get in trouble from Weber. Its a resotration project, not a copy infringement that you are attempting.

So now there are at least three different styles of text on the handles? The old two rivet styles are usually so shot you can't see anything anyhow. I wonder if they all said weber?

As far at the one screw type, some just say "weber" and some say "weber and "the one and only". How do we know which ones say what?

Isn't the one that said "the one and only" an advertising one.
Kind of like the ones that said Marlboro or Snap On. You get my point ..

As for whick ones are correct, it depends on the year and model.. But who knows whicj s correct? Anyone?
 
no idea. i hope it is, then it will be even more rare. but it is refering to weber as its next to the kettle emblem so i doubt it.

Thats seems to be the way they looked at the end of the wood handles. Probably the one that most people will see.
Does anybody ahve any really early grill handle pics?
 
when i was sanding down the handle from my red 26 (62 according to weber, and my research) - it had weber logo like AJs photo

my 79 smokey joe also has the same logo on the handle (like AJ's yellow)
 
just saw a pic of a new in box kettle that had the double rivet wood handle and as above it had "weber" stamped in between the rivets.
 
Brian , Some of the older two rivet styles handles from the mid to late 60's, like the baby blue one your working on, possibly? may have never said Weber at all. I have a NIB smokey joe with the older two rivet style handle with no logo or writing at all (although its a different design.) If I had to chose I would go with the logo AJ posted, that seems most fitting for that time frain.

Here is a link with a couple pics of NIB kettles with older two rivet style handles. Its hard to make the blue one out, but I believe it has the logo like the one AJ posted. But the Brownie appears to have no logo and possibly some type of full body stain right from the factory, on the handle.

It's interesting to see that they are stained as well. That stain is very dark. Its so dark you can barley read that is says weber. I have two old grills who's handles are in good shape and they are not stained nor do they have the weber logo. I wonder why the inconsistancy?

If I have learned anything about Weber, is that consistency is not one of theior strong points.
Actually, they have made so many grills, its hard to tell when one idea ended and another began.
I suspect that if they ran out of something, they just used whatever they could get their hands on.
I likle the Weber Logo that is between the 2 rivets. It is probably the most used and would be the most authentic of that era.
We just have to keep trying to see what we can find.

So Brian,
What do you need to get the laser to make a duplicate?
 
I have everything. I'm going to bring the logo from brandsoftheworld.com into illustrator and I'll size it in there. Once the size is right, we just need to make a fixture and locate the handle in the laser. We'll just have to fool around with the power so it doesnt burn too much. Hopefully have something this week.

Just a suggestion, I'm sure you probably thought of this, but i would just throw a piece of scrap int he laser until you have it dialed in.. And once you do..we can start making some deals..
 
Brian, the weber logo were on both the lid handle and the bowl handle on my 99 Mastertouch. My old Redhead Kettle had a replacement handle on it when I bought it, so I do not know about the original handle on that one. The bowl handle on that one was metal of course.
