Baratza Encore............Question

Well Sette got here but as I suspected it has the bad gearbox. Oddly Baratza's web site is down and can't even order it

Website is up but motor/gearbox is out of stock. Since the burr which is part of this assembly is plastic, they probably sell a lot of these...
Same gearbox assembly used on all sette models, 30-270wi

The burr is steel but yeah I saw the stuff out of stock. I found other places had it in stock but they jack the price up

I guess it’s just the gears that are plastic, my bad.
Honestly can't wait to get it back together. Not sure if I'll make it into a "keeper" or a "seller". Right now I have the Breville Smart Grinder Pro I refurbed for sale and the Baratza Encore with the weight control attachment for sale (FleaBay and Marketplace). I think my ultimate "keeper" though will be (if I can find one at right value) will be the Forte' BG (steel burr version), or the Vario W+ (also comes with steel burrs). If I can parlay any of the current lineup to one of those, they'll be my "huckleberry".
I currently have a Vario W. Not as many features as the W+ and has ceramic burrs. They do OK but seem more attuned to espresso grinds than the steel burr models. Although I know I could simply buy the steel burrs for the Vario W and have 90% of the features as the W+ model.
We shall see...............Just hoping they get those Sette motors back in stock soon

I need a sound absorbing outer shell for the virtuosa+.
Well I got a pleasant surprise today. Apparently Baratza revamped the motor/gearbox assembly on the Sette. and when I emailed them wondering why the web site did not work they contacted me and offered to send a free courtesy replacement saving me about $75.
Gonna have me a darn nice grinder here. Darn good customer support

Got another email from Breville/Baratza yesterday. My motor/gearbox should be on it's way very soon. Maybe I will post another thread for "Sette 270Wi" when it gets here

Cool. I'll put up photos and maybe a video or 2 as I go through the process. Again it will show up in another thread. I have the Encore with scale control listed on EBay. I may have to order a couple more parts for it. The bean hopper has a busted leg. Works but it's not "whole", and in disconnecting the safety switch I broke the microswitch off the back cover. I think I am going to get it going first (use the busted hopper, and jumper the safety switch) and then see how the whole thing comes out. If it turns out nicely I'll order the new parts as they're very easy to install (all of 5 min) and this one MAY end up as a "keeper" time will tell.
