Bad Spare Ribs?

Opened a package of spare ribs this morning and on the back side of it there is big dark blue or purple spots on it. They smell ok. Are they ok to use?
 
Yeah i have seen that also from time to time when buying spares.Not sure where it comes from but never had any issues with taste.
