awe nuts

Anyone tried smoking with nuts? Not to them but with them? Do they embark a bitter flavor? The shells, even soaked, would last only seconds in a WSM. I'm sure the high oil content would'nt lend itself to to any appreciable moisture retention. But on the other hand, pine nuts might be interesting,(maybe on possum) he he he.

I've heard of folks cooking with Pecan shells, beyond that I don't know of other shells being used.
If the wood is strong then chances are the shells would be also.
So your into cooking roadkill, are you? /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Jim, thanks for the laugh! Actually I live in Des Moines, just a few miles up Pac Hwy from you. As you know possums (opossums ?) are plentiful road kill in this area. Never tried one; but I do like squirrel.
