Somebody came by my store the other day and said they had a crab apple tree I could have just for the cutting... Can a crab apple tree work for smoking wood - or stay with a "typical" apple tree?
Thanks - Gary in AR

Gary,
I don't know what kind of flavor you'll get from crabapple, but I've been told that just about any tree that bears nuts or fruit is ok for BBQ. I've also been told that all apples can trace their lineage back to crabapple. So I'd give it a try if it was me. Maybe on a small scale at first to judge the taste. Good luck.

Go ahead and get it!! Crabapple wood is almost exactly like Apple wood.

It's good stuff and from my experience it has a little more bite than the apple you buy.
