Anyone shoot a bow?

I had a chance to go shoot a compound bow last week and was instantly hooked after about an hour of firing arrows on targets. I spoke with staff at the shop and got my myself fitted. I ended up selecting a Mission Switch with a 30” ATA, in black. It was very forgiving on my shots and loved how smooth it was. I opted for a true fire smoke extreme wrist strap release instead of a finger release (for now). Scooped up 4 Easton Hexx arrows.

I’ve been youtubing “nockonarchery” and few other channels. I have to adjust my sight still, and possibly the draw. I measure at about a 29 on my draw. I have the weight set for about 55 lbs for the time being. I am not a hunter, but a lot of guys I work with are. At least we can shoot targets together. I’m considering signing up for lessons at my local range.

Anyone else like to fire arrows for target or hunting? What do you use?

Bradley, many, many years ago when I was in high school, in phys. ed., the only sport I enjoyed and liked was Archery. Hope you have a great time, it is a lot of fun to learn to hit the BULLS EYE !!!!!!

(It was NOTHING like what you have there. lol)

I shoot a Diamond Edge 320 because I’m a tall guy with a long draw (31”). I started shooting when he pandemic started and I was the GM of a gun club in WA with a penchant for turning out Olympic and World class archers. Several world records are from our club because of the very low wind conditions on the FITA range.

It got some great coaching from our top archery coaches and shooters and the maintenance staff gave me all the arrows found in the woods from poor shots on the flat archery range and misses from the walkthrough ranges. I told them to quit after about 2 weeks because I had about 50 arrows.

I actually started archery to save ammunition from my shotgun, pistol and rifle shooting. I even built a mini archery range in my backyard when I moved to Idaho.

Yes sir, I've been shooting archery and bowhunting for about 35 years now. You are on a good path with Nock On Archery, John Dudley is one heck of an archer and coach. I am currently shooting a Mathews V3 31, a Mathews Triax, and a Bear Empire. I try to shoot every day, but I would say realistically about 4-5 times a week. I have a pretty good range set up in my back yard out to 88 yards. with both bag and 3D targets. Most of my shooting is at 50 and 62 yards.

I used to shoot in my early teens. Had a friend who's whole family were archers & had a range out in Valencia Ca. Somehow, we convinced my parents to let me set up a hay bail target in our backyard to practice on. We had enough room to get 90 yards. Did a lot of stupid things - luckily no one got hurt.
Compound bows sure have changed alot since then!

I imagine it would be just like the Secret Service carrys an H&K MP 5. Shoulder sling. 2 extra bolts. (also helps to carry the MP-5!)
