Anyone a subscriber to T-Mobile 5g home internet? Or other providers except Xfinity?

I’m looking at new internet service providers and am seeking any feedback from those that may have 5g internet, either T-Mobile or Verizon, or anyone who has ATT fiber installed at their home.

Pros, cons, hates, likes, wishes, what have you. I’d like to hear real world feedback. TY
 
On another forum I frequent, folks have spoken very positively about the T-Mobile 5G home internet. So much so I would like to try it at my home but coverage map says not available.

I currently have Xfinity. Very fast but spendy ~$125/month internet only. No other option for me presently.
 
I currently have both providers hooked up in my house. Long and short of why. XFinity had been raising my rates over the years to the point I was paying over $150 for internet ALONE. When TM became available at my address I went with it. Overall at first it worked decently. Lots of latency though and was problematic for my security cameras. Also had been getting some frequent dropouts (as I totally cut the Comcast cord TV and Internet). By this time I had been gone from Comcast long enough to qualify for a REALLY cheap rate of $55 internet all in (all fees and such). So I grabbed it and hooked it up. But did not dump TM as I was only paying them $30 month
I found out later the reason TM had been hiccupping was due to them making tower changes in my zone, adding frequencies and redistributing their "broadcasts".
So I hooked the TM back up and relegated XFinity to my backup network (a totally different WIFI 6 network I have independent of my main one). Now with the improvements TM has made I am not seeing dropouts, things are actually more reliable than XFinity, faster both down and up, and much better latency to the point I have not hooked up XFinity again to my main network and may actually dump it again altogether.
So right now because we have a high end TM phone plan AND TM internet we only pay $30 for internet.
All I can say is give it a go. If you can (I have been trying) get the newer gateway with the external option for antenna (they still have internal). Use their app on the phone to find your best ISP tower and placement and give it whirl. You may find yourself liking it.
Of course you may want to Snopes all this and google it to see if I am misleading you. But, YMMV and because it's wireless it may/may not work as well as you hope in your location or may work even better than mine
 
We have xfinity at home and T-Mobile home internet that we use in the camper when travelling. I love the T-Mobile home internet but we don't have great signal at our house so it remains as our camper internet. We've used it all over the country in our travels the last 2 years. Lowest signal we have had (other than at our new house in Georgia) was about 80mbps in an RV park in Tupelo Mississippi. Otherwise we always get over 100mbps and up to 500-600 in some areas. It's only $50 a month since that was the locked price we got when we signed up.

Just know that with the T-Mobile it may work in your area but not be available. Meaning that they don't have any type of geolocation controls on it but attempt to control usage by only selling so many in each area based on the network strength in those areas. So, we got ours in OKC where it was available, but moved to SE Georgia where it isn't available but it does work down here when it's in an area where the T-Mobile cellular service is available.

We only use it for streaming TV and to work from home or from the road. So, we don't game or need the latency that apparently it doesn't have. But, for general internet use it's been amazing. If we had the signal strength at our house it would be our home internet, but we had to get xfinity and just keep the T-Mobile as our road internet. I even take it when we stay at hotels and use it instead of any other wifi. There could be a day they decide to lock them down to your 'home' address, but since we've had it we have been able to use it anywhere there is a T-Mobile 5G signal.
 
I was condisidering it and tried it at our beach house. It wasn't a good thing. The signal was dodgy at best...move it to this window or that. PLUS...cell phone service gets prioritized, not a big deal in winter and fall when the population is 1800. In summer that swells to 50,000 all with cell phones dragging your 5g down. Cut the cable and went with Comcast 800gbs and our own modem+router setup. Works perfectly.
 
Our new place has service for ATT Fiber, TMO 5g and Xfinity. I no longer want to do business with Xfinity for a series of reasons.

I’ll check signal strength for the TMO 5g. I can get it for $30 or $40 a month as I have my business cellular with them.

The ATT Fiber people want to do a deal with me as well for cellular and home fiber. I have ATT fiber at my office which I’ve been incredibly happy with since it’s inception.

Seeking more replies if others have additional experiences, please. TY

The AT&T fiber sounds rock solid if the price is right. Can't blame anyone for hating on Xfinity.
 
T-Mobile had a free trial and I gave it a shot. Just did not work for me. The only way I could get a reliable connection was with the unit near a window. Did not work for me because of security and backup connections in my basement would require running ethernet cables to upper floor near a window. Also, speed was significantly slower than my cable. Great idea though as it is portable. You could take it anywhere with you.
 
I've heard rumblings since TMobile introduced their 5g Internet service about connectivity issues that would appear out of nowhere that were seemingly impossible to correct. I can understand prioritizing voice calls over data traffic, sure don't mean that I'm going to like it.

Personally, if at all possible, I'd stick with a physical connection, doesn't matter if it's coax or fiber. Fiber has a bit of an advantage in that it's completely electrically isolated. I do think that you'll get better service overall with a physical connection over a wireless connection.
 
Have you ruled out StarLink?
We have fiber in California and are unable to have fiber in Washington so we use StarLink in Washington.
The wife works from home and does a lot of zoom meetings and we’ve never had any issues even with multiple users at the same time.
We have had outages with fiber before but none with StarLink.
I’m not trying to make a StarLink commercial or anything but if we didn’t have it my butt would still be stuck in the Bay Area.
 
I use Verizon Fios, not cheap but very fast and reliable. Not many players in my area but I would never go back to Comcrap. To many outages back in the day.

Why can't Verizon simply call it "fiber" like everyone else does?
In any case for right now I have that "featured" rate from Comcrap of $55 "all in with true unlimited" plus my $30 rate from TM. I'll just keep both until Comcrap raises the rate since even with both I am paying slightly more than half what I used to pay Comcast alone.

Haven’t ruled out anything except Xfinity. I’ll see what starlink costs. I have no knowledge of their product.

We have them in both homes and I hate them. I hate the emails they send every month thanking me for the $316 they just sucked out of our checking account. Tried Verizon FiOS here in PA.... unmitigated disaster. Not much choice but Comcast...5 techs...5 different attempts to get cable and solid WiFi in a 3BR 3 BA townhouse.
Ended up paying a low voltage specialist that does outdoor TV and home theater setups, wifi etc...a $1000 but it all works very well.
At the NJ beach house...Comcast and now T-Mobile 5g are the only players.
One issue beyond the felony theft rates is the fact that almost any technician Comcast uses is a subcontractor or a sub subcontractor.
