G Guest Guest Sep 23, 2003 #2 I believe just about any nut wood is okay for smoking. I know I've seen Black Walnut chips or pellets in little bags. A quick search turns up this from the BBQForum: "Walnut - A very heavy smoke, best when used with milder woods. Good with beef." But walnut has other uses besides cooking. Ask a few woodworkers or cabinetmakers, they might pay you for it.
