Any way to fix this?

Any help would be appreciated here. I purchased a dud of a performer in the spring and have been battling issue after issue. Weber service has been great so far but honestly I’m just tired of going through it all. Several bits and pieces later ( 3 bowls to finally get the holes in the right position for the lid holder among other things) I have got pretty comfortable grilling on her. Shutting her down and smoking are still huge hurdles. Air leaks absolutely everywhere and a whole summer of use is just starting to seal up a few of her leaks. The biggest problem now appears to be the lid vent. Hot or cold I can’t seem to shape it to the lid any better. Maybe to hot as evidenced by the silicone handle. Opps. Any suggestions on shaping this better to seal without having to drill out the rivet?

You need to drill out the rivet (I think it is 1/4") and replace with a stainless steel nut and bolt. Then you can also take it apart when it needs a good cleaning.
