Business is going to put me in Withcita Ks for about 4 days in a week or so. Does anyone know of any good Q (or any other good dining for that matter)in Witchita?

thanks !!

Back in the day when my friends and I were single we would drive from Chicago to Denver once or twice a year. We always timed it so it was well into the night by the time we got past the Mississippi river and we didn't see daylight until we were in Colorado. I don't have much daylight experience with Kansas (Iowa and Nebraska if we were taking a more northern route).

I can tell you all that you want to know about Salina, KS, but I didn't ever spend all that much time in Wichita. We used to hit the Krispey Kreme back when it was brand new and a novelty

Oh, if your travel takes you into Hillsboro, KS there is/was a German restaurant on main street that serves locally made sausage. Wonderful. Hillsboro has a large Mennonite population and is a neat little town.

When I travel I always ask the local folks for the best places to eat. Lots of times they will recommend a place that I would not usually think of going to, but the food is always pretty good to great. Only 1 time in 39 years of travel has someone recommended a bad place. Give it a try.

From my brother-in-law who lives in Wichita.

B&C Creations for a buffet off of Washington Street in Old Town.

Delano BBQ on Douglas downtown. My favorite.

I do the same thing. My wife and I spent a week of our honeymoon in Ireland. Seeing as neither of us had ever driven on the other side of the road before we hired a driver for the week (suprisingly cheap, we ended up paying about the same as we would have paid if we had just rented a car). His hometown was in Kilarney so when we got to that part of the country we asked where we should go for dinner. He started listing all the "tourist" places. "No Johnny, where would *you* go for dinner if you weren't dragging us around?". He ended up taking us to this little fish & chips shop in town. Best fish I've ever had at a resturant.

I think we made his week because A, we weren't the typical "ugly American" tourists (of which we saw plenty) and B, instead of the tour bus he would normally have he got to drive a brand-new (just drove off the lot when he came to pick us up) Mercedes-Benz for the week. Whenever we would be somewhere with a lot of tour-busses he would brag to the other drivers about the "VIPs" he was escorting that week. We really lucked out on the Benz, normally they wouldn't have had that nice of a car but the company wanted him to take it on a "shake-down" tour to make sure it worked for the *real* VIPs.
