Another Sand Question

If I fill the water pan two-thirds to
three fourths with sand then cover with foil, will that still give me enough
room in the pan to catch all the grease coming off the pork? I would hate
for the grease to fill up the remaining room in the pan then start dripping
down into the fire below. But then again maybe I am just too much of a
"worry-wart."

Thanks for the advice Chach. I filled the pan half-way with sand then covered the sand with aluminum foil, leaving half the pan un-used. There was plenty of room left in the pan to catch drippings after my pork shoulder finished in ten hours so there was no "overflow" problem at all.
