Another Newbie Question re: Burner Tubes

First off, thanks for all the advice I've received on the few threads I've posted, and the info I've found just digging around. A question about burner tubes. The end that connects with the manifold, there is a screen and a screw that you can adjust the airflow. What's the point of being able to open these up or constrict the airflow? Should I just leave them the way they are, or would there be a reason to adjust?

Leave them as they are. 98% of the time, they are already set to the optimal position.

If you're buying brand new Weber OEM leave them alone unless you live at extreme elevations (either low or high)
