Ammonia for degreaser? Anyone?

Has any one used ammonia for a degreaser? My wife swears by the stuff for in the house, but not too sure if it would even touch the grime and grease from the gassers. In stead of using simple green or some commercial product. Thank for your assistance.

I've never used ammonia. Simple green is all I use for my two grills and it works very well.

Dawn and hot water...damp towel to dry.

Ammonia works just fine. I use it all the time. Mind the fumes though
