was planning on a big pork butt all nighter.

didnt go to the warehouse club as local supermarket had butts on sale for like a dollar a pound.

of course, picked up a picnic instead of a butt..either way this baby's going all night and then some/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm sure it will turn out great, David. I recently did my first overnighter, with a 12.5# picnic. I used the Minion method and lump charcoal. I put it on at 10 p.m. @ 240. When I got up at 6 a.m. the WSM was holding at about 230. I opened the vents a bit, and got it right back on target. I did have to add some lit coals around 2 p.m. to maintain temp, but at 6 p.m. I had a picnic that was 195 internal, just about falling apart. It made for some fantastic pulled pork.
The WSM is a champ at holding temp if you have your fuel load right, and barring unforeseen circumstances.
