Adding handle to Cajun Bandit Door

Looking to add a handle to my Cajun Bandit door. Im not happy always using the latch to hold the weight of the door. Its also difficult qhen tye WSM is at temp to align it right with out burning myself.

Here are my 2 options. Any feedback welcome.20220303_074911.jpg20220303_074905.jpg

I love the second one, I think it looks super cool, it is less holes to drill and it looks like it will keep you hand further away from the heat and did I say I think it looks really cool?
Do you use a cover for your WSM? If so will they both work with the cover. Will the second one get caught easier with a cover?

I agree with Michael on that second one.

Plan on using two washers and high heat silicone to seal it when you tighten everything up, and a stainless steel nut and lockwasher on the back. Once tightened it won't want to move, and when you start cooking the heat and carbon deposits will lock everything else in place.

I like the first one.
But the disadvantages give it to the second.
Farther away and heat from only one source.
If vertical not much difference. But the two post will stiffen the door. However in this case that may be a disadvantage. Unless the door is "bent" perfectly fit with the handle, so again, single post wins.
With a separate handle to hold the door, you can fashion a simpler lock too. If needed.
