A new grilling first for me!


 
That is the one issue I've had with my Spirit too. However, it never got into a thermo-nuclear meltdown, so I just let it burn itself out. It's just something to keep in mind with the design of the drip tray I guess.
 
I like to give the grill a good cleaning when it's time to refill the propane tank. Pull the grates, brush the flavorizer bars clean, pull them and bush everything into the grease pan, remove and clean the grease pan wiping it down and replace the disposable drip tray, it's a 5 - 10 minute job at the most.
