A little bummed about my meat loaf

A few weeks ago I did up my first Meat loaf on my WSM, and it came out great. Nice smoke flavor and ring. I was very careful not to use too much smoke. I used 2 good chunks of Oak and 2 good chuncks of Apple.

Well now this weekend I smoked up another one, the only change I made was instead of using the Apple, I changed and tried to use Pecan. I can ont really think of any other differences, however this meat loaf is not very smokey flavored at all. I mean it is still good, but it just tastes like one that was cooked in the oven with a little smoke flavor added to it.

This is just a bummer, cuz the last one was so good.

Bob - I find pecan to be VERY mild. I had a similar reaction when doing a butt on pecan only. I'm a big hickory fan, so I usually mix some of that in with either pecan or apple.
