3 bone prime rib for Christmas

Nice looking prime rib DanHoo
But did it take all those tools to cook it?
LOL

The BGE hinge bolts needed to be adjusted. I couldn't remember if the bolts were 1/2 or 7/16 so I just grabbed a handful of both.

Cooktime and temps?
I didn't take notes. Times from timestamps on the pics.

Pit temp was about 260F grate.
About 3.5 hours smoking using B&B oak. It had a nice amount of smoke so I omitted post oak chips.

Pulled off at 123F tented and it went into an oven preheated to 170F (lowest setting). shut off the oven and it sat in the oven tented for 90 minutes.

Temp coming out of the oven was 128 to 131.

20 mins before dinner roast was back on the BGE running 600F for about 12or 13 minutes. I wanted 500F but overshot temps while I was inside.

Came off and carved about 10 mins later.

It was very tasty and would have easily fed 6, maybe 7.

You need to set the right time zone on your phone. Being that you and my friend live in the same time zone, he was figuring on what time he would need to leave in order to be there in time for dinner.

Don't worry, he will bring his own plate. You did say "It was very tasty and would have easily fed 6, maybe 7." Again, asking for a friend (with family)...
