I'm having people over for a house warming tomorrow. Going to do a bunch of food including smoking 2 pork butts and a brisket. Any suggestions for a good brisket recipe that'd work with the pork butts? Will be using http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/pork2.html and http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/pork1.html .

I was thinking of a little hickory + apple for it. http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/brisket2.html saw this looks like i could do it with similar cook time. Figured I'd see if anyone has suggestions for other methods, so i can have them both on the smoker at around the same amount of time.

M daum, I just did this type of cook the other week but I stuck with hickory wood, didn't mix it. I prefer hickory and it goes well with both. Cook times depends on the sizes. What's the size of the butts and brisket? Is brisket a packer brisket or is it just one of the cuts (flat or point)? You might be able to cook at the same time but what happened to me is butt took longer than brisket due to the size of the butt

I've got 2 8.5 pounders and then a 4.6 pound flat cut. I am thinking the butt will definitely end up taking longer, trying to decide if i could just do the brisket a few hours later or how i should time it.

Oh for sure do it a few hours later. Depending on cook temps that brisket could easily be done in about 5-6hrs at a cook temp of around 250. So plan to finish cooking brisket 1-2 hrs before serving. Leave it covered in foil, you can even keep it wrapped in a towel and put into a cooler and it'll maintain a consistent heat- I know it's crazy. And cut it when ur ready to serve
