22" Dimensions

Hi,

Does anyone have exact measurements for the center piece of the 22" WSM?

A friend is a mechanical engineer and he is going to use cad to create plans for creating a stacker. I have another friend that is in fabrication who will create it.

If anyone has the measurements, I'd be happy to share the cad document with anyone that is interested.

Thanks!

Eric

No, I don't, and I don't have a tool to measure it. But remember it's the thickness of the metal + the thickness of the porcelain enamel coating.

Regards,
Chris

Eric, that center section has a "bead" about 1 inch from the bottom that allows it to rest snugly on the charcoal bowl (bottom). The top of the center section has a flattened lip with an outside lip that allows the lid to sit inside of it. It does not work like the standard 22.5 inch kettle.

If you need accurate measurements, let me know, I have mine apart right now, and the middle section is inside my storage room.

Hope this helps.

If you could verify that this is correct, it would be a big help:

22” WSM Mid Section

Metal Thickness – .050 of an inch.

Diameter exterior - 22-7/8" OD
Diameter interior - 21-3/4" ID
Height - 21-1/2"

I'm thinking that if I have another mid-section without the door that I can stack on my current 22" WSM, I'd have enough capacity to do an entire comp on one smoker and certainly smaller people's choice rib cook-offs.

Thanks!

Eric

Eric,

Also look at adding a 3rd grate to a 22" to increase capacity. Do a search in the mod forum and you find a few of us that have done it.
