2005 Weber Genesis Silver C Restoration Help

Hey all,

Im currently in the process of restoring a 2005 Genesis Silver C that I picked up for $10. She was in roughhhhh shape, but after tearing it down to the frame, sanding, repainting and replacing various parts Ive just about completed the restore. Im running into 2 problems. It looks like when I disconnected the side burner from the manifold, I didnt realize it was a quick connect, and manually unscrewed where the manifold connects onto the side burner tube. Inside of the outlet pipe is a spring and a gasket, im not sure if I lost anything else in the process. Does anyone know which way this hardware should be oriented? Second concern is finding the side burner ring. Ive checked online but it looks like the exact model is discontinued. Would i be able to use the burner ring from a 2009+ Gensis grill? They look identical besides the part number itself. Attached below are some pictures of the manifold hardware concern, and the beauty itself prior to all the work thats been done.

Thanks in advance, Jonathan A

Bump. Still looking for someone who has experience with the 3 burner manifold with side burner outlet, that could provide help.

Sounds like you might have to replace the line from the side burner to, and including the quick connect fitting. I am not sure you can get the quick connect fitting back together. I do not think they are supposed to come apart.

Quick update on the fitting. It's not an issue of the fitting itself being broken, but just which way the gasket and spring should be oriented. I'm 99% sure these came from inside this connection, I don't see anywhere else where they could've that would make sense. Id be somewhat worried about damaging the manifold if I completely remove it, as the upper half doesn't seem to budge. Here's another picture, showing the entire connection attached to the manifold.

I would replace the quick-connect with a flare nut and adapt the hose that supplies it to use a flare nut.

Or semi permanently thread the hose into the manifold. Use gas safe thread sealant.

Yah, unless you plan to remove the side burner occasionally, I would just hard connect it to the manifold.

Another update. In the name of science, I found a used manifold for sale while searching for the other couple parts I needed to complete the grill. Upon taking that manifolds quick connect apart, I can confirm that it is 100% serviceable, and the only hardware that is necessary is that spring and gasket originally shown. Funny enough when I contacted Weber to see if they could offer any help, their only response was, "that the part cannot be put back together because it is broken and will need to be replaced." Pretty hard to believe when they follow that up with offering you a new manifold for $165.24. Just gotta clean up the valves on the old manifold and my side burner, and then Im ready to get grilling.

Never seen one apart. Not gonna take one apart either. They're standard off the shelf items. Not worth the trouble IMO. Glad you were able to resolve your issue. But, not worth the fuss IMO

Hey Michael, I totally agree. I never intended to take it apart, but just wanted to provide confirmation for someone else if they ever made the same mistake that I did.
