2005 Genesis Platinum lid?

The inner metal of the lid on my 2005 platinum seems to have seen better days. I would like to find a replacement but was curious what might be interchangeable with it.. I know the Silver series will of the same year. Anything else?

Other options

Call Weber and show them some pictures of the liner and lid. I have gotten warranty replacements in the past for that condition as it is unsafe to have metal potentially falling on your food.

If Weber says no or you are out of warranty. You can exchange the lid with another Weber Genesis 3 burner from the same time period, 2001 to 2006. Craigslist or Marketplace often has cheap or free grills

You can go over the offending liner areas with bare iron sheet metal or pieces from another liner. The liner is iron based so I wouldn’t change the metal type or use coated metal to overlay.

Yah, that liner is shot. You can simply rip it out and drive on. Or it can be replaced with virtually any Genesis three burner lid all the way back to 1985. Tons of them out there.

That was a 2005 genesis platinum if my notes are correct. I got the replacement lid which was black with no liner in 2020.

I checked the warranty and it is 25 years on the lid. No cosmetics or damage. They do cover rot and burn through.

I have the email to Weber. I asked to buy a replacement liner and sent photos. After a couple of days they came back and said they would send a new black replacement lid

My correspondence was via email after an initial request in the Weber app

Weber is sending a new lid, free of charge.. but black, now I will go buy new Burners / grates and maybe flavorizer bars

I picked up this SS Platinum yesterday. PO got the lid replaced and it is NEW still. Notice it uses the same end caps and SS Handle that came with the Platinum originally.

I am kind of surprised they are not just sending a basic Silver B lid.
