2003 Weber Genesis Silver B round handle

Hi there, I saved a 2003 Weber Genesis Silver B from the trash recently. Other than grates, I attached a propane tank and it fired right up. My question is concerning the handle. My handle is a piece of wood, with a diameter of 1.5”, probably not original. According to the serial number the handle should be rectangular. Here are some pictures. Weber is unable to find me a part number at all, and at this point I am going to simply go to Home Depot to get a wooden dowel and ciut it to size. Has anyone ever seen this type of handle. Thanks

You can fit the original handle by removing the handle extensions or whatever they're called from the end caps. I've got a brand new original handle for that grill if You're interested.Screenshot_20240807-203906~2.png

Yep, looks identical to the exact same 2 flip up table green head I gave daughter's boyfriend for his b/day last year

First thank you for the reply…but I’m confused….younare saying that I should be able to remove the part of the lid that the dowel handle goes through?
Yes, there is a bolt that holds the handle on each side. Look in the red circle that I put on your photo.

So quick follow up on my original thread. After registering the grill with Weber I asked if I could buy a new handle. I was on the phone for at least 30 minutes with a very nice customer service rep and she said she would need to follow up with me. The next day I got an email from her telling me that she located the part and it was $15….did I want it. I responded yes. I then got an invoice from Weber explaining that the $15 handle was not available separately, but instead I could buy the whole lid assembly for $375. I simply didn’t respond and about 2 weeks later I received an email from Weber customer service asking if I was still interested in the full lid assembly. I responded back that I was not as it was more expensive than the entire rest of the grill, and that I was going to pass.

I thought that was the end of it until I got another email yesterday explaining that my case had been resolved, and that they were going to send me out a new lid assembly (lid, thermometer, logo and handle) at no cost. I was shocked. Today I got the Fed Ex notification that it will be delivered this weekend!

So, after installing some nice cast iron grates and the proper handle, I’ll have a fantastic new grill that should last me several more years. I have decided to get rid of my 2005 Summit Silver B grille, and all of the parts that I have for it (including a brand new lid in the box as well as many other new parts).

Crazy how things turn out.
