2000 LX Rehab Questions

Hello everyone. New to this forum. Thanks for having me.

I have a 2000 LX (I BELIEVE) that needs some help. I was hoping this group could help me decide whether and where to begin. It's in fine shape cosmetically but is missing the manufacturer's model/serial # sticker, so I can't get precise on age.

(Please disregard rust and mess in the bottom tray - photos taken before any cleanup) :)

My main question (as a newcomer to grill fixing) is where to begin with the burner tubes. They're throwing bright orange flame on the left side, as you can see in the photos, and not even lighting across the back. Do I order a new set? Is there somewhere else to begin?

Nearly all of the flavor bars have rotted out and will need replaced... go with stainless, and what's your favorite place to order online?

Th other oddity is that this grill appears to have been set up for LP but also has a propane hook-up that runs into what I can only guess was at one-time the line for a burner on the right (like the 3000 LX would have had). See first photo.

I was excited to find such a robust community fixing older grills! Any and all suggestions welcome on where to begin!

First it does appear to be LP. The tank scale and hook kinda gives that away. However it does NOT mean someone butchered it up. As for why someone would install 2 gas fittings into it is beyond me.
Bottom line before anything. Get it taken apart, cleaned well. Odds are the burners are cracked. So a new set would be in order for sure. Get some photos up of the manifold. Also good photos of the valves.
I will tell you, that you have a lot of work in front of you. But once set straight you will be rewarded with a nice grilling machine

The two gas connections are so he can use one on tanks with the new QCC1 connection and the other is for tanks with a quick connect connection.

Without a close look, I am guessing your burners are shot. I would replace them to start with and go from there. I would also probably ditch the quick connect hose and install a 1/8" NPT plug in the manifold.

This hose has worked fine on two of my rehabs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0180YJSF0/?tag=tvwb-20

And these are the stainless flavorizers I went with...I hear it's harder to find actual Weber ones nowadays, so went with these based on decent reviews and the package weight listed on Amazon being much heavier than others in the same price range. They work fine, but the top row of bars sits on the bottom row, so they're not perfectly sized, but I'm not that concerned about that: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z3B3N3K/?tag=tvwb-20

And these are the burners I've gone with and have had no problems: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G647VC8/?tag=tvwb-20

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. I was thinking the quick-connect was LNG, the second is LP for the hanger on the right, like you say. Either way the LP seems to work ok, just wasn't sure if I should remove the other and stick a plug in?

Attached are photos of the valves and manifold, FWIW.

Appreciate the insights everyone. I will order some of these items and post updates. Is there a great product for removing greasy scum? Steel wool and cleaner of choice?

I am sure they are both Propane hoses and connectors. Someone just had two different propane tanks with different connectors and wanted to use them both. I installed a second hose on one of my grills so that I could use up a couple propane thanks that I had gotten with rehab grills.

If both hoses were propane, they both would have had a regulator on the other end as well.

“Dirty” Harry Callahan was pretty good at getting rid of scum.
