2 zone cooking on a Genesis 1100.

Depends on what will be cooked and how much. When I had mine on larger longer cooks was not unusual for me to run low or med front rest off. One thing to remember with a real Genesis (like yours). Because of the burner arrangement and the way it's "vented", heat travels front to rear as does smoke. So if you're wanting to do a smoke flavored indirect cook it's best to use the center to rear of the grill to place the food

I did a rack of beef ribs yesterday. But in a n-s grill. Worked, but not as easy. It did however cook faster than expected. Airflow I suspect, compared to oven.
I used the potato grill, the bun warmer rack, at an angle across the grill. Left burner on, hope for the best. Worked. By the time I grab the slim baking pan with potatoes for underneath, boom already past 203, parts close to 210.
A e-w grill would be easier.
