2 digital thermos go out?

I was doing a butt on Sat, and I had 2 digital thermos go out on me.

The 1st was my older Polder; after several hours, it was reading something like 324* for the meat temp. I pulled it out and went to an el cheapo accurite and it did essentially the same thing. And no, my fire was hovering right around 250* - that was the 1st thing I checked. I use a fry thermo through and eyelet for monitoring cooking temps. Neither one can be cleared out, even by removing the batteries. What are the odds?

Anyone else experience such a problem? I finally checked the meat with a spare fry thermo. Oh, the butt came out great.

Did you get water or moisture in the probes? Were they stored in a damp area?

How new are the batteries. If the probes got wet you can dry them out with dry heat, for example on a grill or oven low heat.

I hope that helps.
