2-2-1 Ribs and Smoke wood

I recently did my first pork butt with wood chunks buried and was really happy with the results, I’m going to do some ribs this Friday and I was thinking about trying the same method but I’m worried about them only getting 2 hours smoke before getting foiled. Can I work around this by burying the chunks closer to the center or for something like ribs would it better to just put them on top touching the lit charcoal and Dave the buried method for the longer cooks?

I’ve always put one chunk in the middle where I drop my lit coals, then one on top of unlit coals, and the rest buried ( 4 chunks total) That seems to work for me on all smokes.... the longer smokes I’ll add part way through.....1 or 2 more

You're method will work.
Note that there's no reason to be worried about "only" getting 2 hrs of smoke. That's plenty. A lot of smoke isn't always a good thing. Also, you'll be taking them out of the foil, for the last hour and you can always toss another small wood chunk in the charcoal at that point. It's not necessary, but it's an option.
