I have always been afraid to cook a turkey. Not sure why, maybe it's from watching Christmas Vacation too many times? But I just got a Weber Performer and what better way to break her in (even though it's used) than to grill a bird.
I made a brine out of.......really anything I could find in the kitchen. Oranges, Onion, minced garlic, thyme, bay leaves, salt, sugar, and apple cider. Left her in there about 24 hours. While the grill was pre-heating I removed it from the brine, patted it dry and then lightly rubbed it with some Bad Byrons Butt Rub, then threw her on the grill with some pecan wood to add in the smoke flavor. I ran it for about 3.5 hours at about 300*. I pulled it when the breasts were at about 170*.
I honestly can not believe how well it came out! It was awesome!
