14.5 lid handle broke weld on one side

The weld on my lid handle let go this weekend during a cook on Sunday. I called Weber on Monday and explained what happened and they are sending be out a brand new lid free!

I am happy with that, although it is also bad, because if they said they wouldn't I would have had an excuse to buy another 14.5 and simply drill and bolt the handle back on but I could have told the wife I needed a new one...

Good possibility that the weld was just not done right in the first place. Things just happen. At least this is a manufacturer that stands behind their product. Not many like that anymore. Not sure but wasn't there someone posting the last few days that was looking for 14.5 parts. A stainless nut and bolt and that lid will work for a long time. Just a thought.
