Cowboy Charcoal Fire & Ice Series Highlight Women Pitmasters
Wine Country Big Q Selected as Automatic Qualifying Competition

March 31, 2018 — The Wine Country Big Q, national barbecue competition and festival in Petaluma, California on July 6-7, 2018 and will be one of five qualifying events where one female pitmaster will advance directly to the WFC finals. We’re thrilled that Cowboy chose to partner with us, as their mission behind this competition aligns with our goal to promote talented female pitmasters.

The Hot Pass winner will also receive $1,000 in cash, a $750 travel stipend to compete at the series finals, and free entry into the World Food Championships to compete alongside some of the world’s most talented chefs and barbecue pitmasters. She will earn her spot as one of the 10 female pitmasters competing for a shot at $30,000 in cash and jewelry prizes, plus up to $15,000 to a charity of her choice.

Inspired by the stories and recipes from female barbecue pitmasters across the country, Cowboy Charcoal launched the Fire & Ice series in 2018 to highlight the many talented women in the space. The goal is to recognize avid female grillers and reward them for their contributions to the space, building on the legacy created by great women barbecue pioneers, like Carolyn Wells and Candy Weaver, to name a few. Cowboy would like this series to be a catalyst for encouraging participation of women in competitive barbeque.
