Good Afternoon. I have a 1988 Genesis 1 That I'm trying to find a Weber cover for. The Discontinued one that is for the unit is #9857. None of the oned at Home Depot or Lowes are the correct proportions. I have seen the 7106, 9953,7573, 7129, 7551. But can't find the specs on the 9857 to compare. Has anyone purchased a cover for their older Genesis (side controls). I have attached the pic from the manual. Mine id a Red lid version, minus the fold out side table.

Thanks!

Jim

Hey Jim,
I too like the older "rubberized" Weber covers and have purchased several over the years as they are heavier than the newer nylon covers. I also like that that have the vent strips to keep the air flowing and avoid moisture build-up.

My older Spirit 700 also used the #9857 cover you mentioned and I have bought the #9935 in the past as well. These will both fit the 700/900/1000/1100/1200/1300 series Webers.

I purchase the #9859 for my model 5000 and the even longer #9954 for my Platinum 3400.

Check on e-bay as they pop up very so often, as a matter of fact there is one listed right now-

Jim T, I use an aftermarket 7573 /7106 cover my Genesis 1000 and my coworker also has the King Kong 7573 /7106 for his Genesis 1000 (at my suggestion).

Jeff, I really like the look of those covers and I was going to snipe on that eBay one.... then I realized that I've brought home a couple of grills w/ those same covers that were absolutely tattered.

Thank you! Just bought that one.

Jkim,
I know what you mean about some of those covers, some look absolutely horrible, almost cracked/split.

I got over 10 years on my #9857 Spirit 700 cover with it being out in the New England elements 24/7. The only reason I grabbed a new one was the stitching was letting go and I was selling it to a good friend otherwise it would have do another decade.

Weber used the same style/material cover on their 27000 Flame Firepit and I keep 4 of those covers for backup as I know they'll never make these again.

Not sure how I feel about the long vents on the 9857. It almost seems counter-intuitive
