Maryland Pit Ham

Driving through MD last weekend I passed a sign (unfortunately at 70 MPH and several lanes away from having a chance to stop) for "MD Pit Beef and Pit Ham". I'm familiar with the beef, but does anyone know what the ham is?
 
I haven't tried it yet, but I know it's prepared in the same fashion as Pit Beef. It's usually shaved thin and over a charcoal fire. No wood added.
 
Thanks! I really wasn't that thrilled with pit beef, but that might be pretty good as ham. I would have guessed something like pulled pork done with a ham instead of a butt.
