Maverick 733 probe dissected

Sorry guys, i know this is not directly related to the HM, but thought it may be of interest to you.

One of my Maverick probes started to play up a while ago & I decided to dissect it to re-use the stainless tube for my pit sensor which is a thermocouple with an exposed tip/bulb in order to protect it better.

It was interesting to notice that the Maverick sensor is encapsulated inside a blob of glass. My thoughts are that these probes could be easily made to be much more resistant to moisture by merely have a shorter length of the braid going past the crimp, and have the rubber sealant reaching to below the braid. I think the braid is 'wicking' in moisture which then messes with the resistance when it reaches the exposed wire going into the glass blob. Now that this probe dried out after dissecting it, it works just fine again lol
