heatermeter black lines on LCD and Raspberry pi problems

Hi all

I just finished soldering up my 4.2 heatermeter and I have two problems.

1. When I fired it up (without Raspberry pi attached). The Green and Yellow lights come on and the LCD showing 2 black lines. Then the LEDs will turn off, but the LCD black lines remain. I have seen other posts about this and they suggest double and triple checking the Solder joints. Which I’m doing now. Also to flash the HM. That brings me on to my 2nd tale of woe.

2. When I tried to fit the Raspberry pi on to the HM board one pin on the PI is hitting the buzzer so I can’t fit it. I’m 99% sure I have a B+ pi, so it should fit??. I try to upload a few images.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Brian.

That's one of the first gen Pi B's. Very old, but it will work. They haven't had those header pins installed in P2 for a long time. You'll need to clip the ones that are interfering, or just clip / desolder all of them.

The black boxes mean your display works but your ATMEGA chipped hasn't been flashed yet. That will happen once you boot it up with the RasPi attached and have the HM software on the SD card.
