Standard propane regulator for Weber Genesis 1000?

Hello,

I have an older Weber Genesis 1000 with the quick connector propane regulator. When I use Weber's part finder it shows the replacement as this one: http://store.weber.com/parts/detail/gas/3knobs/weather-wood/cart-model/wood-bottom/1365. Their part # 7504.

What I want to do is replace the quick connect regulator with a standard one, so I don't need to bother with special propane tanks but can just use a standard tank. But I'm not sure which one I need. Does anyone know which kind of regulator I need? It looks like they make them with different size fittings. Thanks!

Lew is correct, either the older Weber 7503 or the recommended 62565 will work as they both have the 1/8" NPT threads required on the older Webers manifolds.

Another less costly option is to replace just the quick-disconnect end with one of these...

I have done two older Webers this way and haven't had any issues.
