The Great Lakes Barbecue Association is sponsoring their Spring Fling Cook at Groveland Oaks Park in Holly, MI on May 16th and 17th.
This cook is an annual event that allows comp teams to dust off the smokers and try out some new recipes and gives those who might be thinking of starting to compete a chance to cook a real competition for a very low
entry fee.
We will hold this cook just like a KCBS competition, there will be meat inspections, a cook's meeting, Certified Judges on site. You will cook all 4 meats and turn in times will mirror those at a regular competition.
Entry fee is $50 if you are a GLBBQA member and $85 if are not, however, the $85 includes a 1 year membership in the Association. Your entry fee also includes your site fee at the park which is a 50' x 50' site with
water and electric hookup.
Prize pool will be at least $1,000.
So if you are in the area and would like to get ready for the comp season or want to give your cooking skills and recipes a try before jumping into the comp ring, this is your opportunity.
It is a great event, lots of fun and some good people.
