Adding gas assist to a Performer?

Gas assist installation guide I added gas ignition to my second hand performer out here in Kenya. I purchased the parts from a UK based parts supplier. I followed the installation guide provided by Lawrence at...

Anybody have a HM running using a solar panel?

From my experience with panels in Kenya, you'd probably want a charge controller and battery. I'd hate to wreck a cook due to the sun going behind clouds. Also 15W at 12V is only 1.25A. Not enough for the HeaterMeter, Pi, Fan and damper Servo I think. I'll let more knowledgeable heads weigh...

Rotordamper Aux. TC board with two probe jacks, blower and servo connections

The probes all read accurately in boiling water and ice/water so calibration is ok. Nairobi is in the 90s (30°C) and clear blue skies again today. Traffic is horrendous - 4th worst city form Commuter Pain according to the IBM Index. Very quiet out on the golf course though!

Rotordamper Aux. TC board with two probe jacks, blower and servo connections

I'm in Nairobi for another wee but will try a transformer type psu and also a 12v sla battery to see if this helps. Makes sense that a cheap switching supply could give grief. Thanks for the advice Bryan and Ralph.

Rotordamper Aux. TC board with two probe jacks, blower and servo connections

John, does the fluctuation increase over time? I have this problem with my on board TC. Starts with a degree or so then increaseincreases over the hours to as much as 4 degrees. I know your TC amp is on the satellite board just wondering if there is a cool root cause?

    Half a hundred HeaterMeter guts

The VoCore looks really good. The number of small scale Linux platforms keeps expanding all the time. Continuity of supply etc. will make design direction choices really tough for Brian!

Ralph, I removed R18 but still have the problem. Here in the TC in my oven set for 300F. The temp bounces around, up and down by 4-5 degrees. Changing Power supply and WiFi dongle has no effect. I'm going to try and source an isolated TC. Any other ideas? Thanks.

A quick test before bed. Three TC's off Amazon/eBay; All three read within a degree of 211 for boiling water but none will read below 60F when in a glass of ice & water. Is there a lower limit on the HM?

Yes the gain seting is 5. I'm not sure if the probes are isolated or group dedicated so I will run some tests in the morning. Thanks for the advice.

Ralph, it's plugged directly into the HM. It's using one of the boards with the pre soldered SMD components.

It was pretty much the same all the way through the cook. One question - my thermocouple pit probe bounces around up and down 3 to 5 degrees or so continously. I have tried another thermocouple probe but get the same symptoms. It doesn't effect the cook but makes the servo do much more than it...

First Boston Butt First Boston Butt cook using the HeaterMeter. 7lb rubbed and smoking! Messed around getting the meat on but the smoker stabilised in short order. I'm loving how stable things are with the Rotodamper and AirBurner. Servo and Fan in use. Now to settle back and wait for dinner!
